“$45,344 Truck Ordered for Jeremiah Johnson—So Why Is the Marion County Manager Driving It?”

Julia Pierce | August 27, 2026

On March 25, 2025, Jeremiah Johnson, the lead man and supervisor of Marion County, Georgia’s road department, approached the Marion County Board of Commissioners to request approval to purchase a truck. The task of getting quotes was left to Connie Harris, Marion County’s manager. See item 2, under “The Roads Department.”

On April 8, 2025, the Marion County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of a new Ford F-150 from Rivertown Ford in the amount $45,344.00 for the Roads Department. See item “e” under New Business on page 2 below, highlighted in green.

Recently, through an open records request, I was able to evidence that Jeremiah Johnson is driving a 2019 Chevy Silverado that was bought at a government auction almost 8 months after he was granted approval by the Board of Commissioners. It is important to remember that his truck was ordered without approval from the Board of Commissioners and it has Connie’s name on it. It’s also important to note that the truck Jeremiah is driving is not a brand new truck and it wasn’t purchased from Rivertown Ford.

But guess what NEW truck was purchased at Rivertown Ford? The brand new 2024 Ford F-150, purchased for $45,344 of county taxpayer money that none other than Connie Harris, the Marion County Manager, is driving! See how the name of the purchaser is the Marion County Board of Commissioner and the address is not redacted? Why wasn’t the sales receipt for the truck Jeremiah is driving produced without those pesky black sharpie marker redactions, but this one is clear as day to us?

As a side note: I’m curious whose signature is at the bottom as the purchaser? Does anyone recognize it?

Now correct me if I’m wrong, but the board of commissioners didn’t approve Connie ordering the new truck for herself to drive. They gave their approval for Jeremiah to use it for his duties to be performed while employed with the Roads Department. Connie isn’t a member of the roads department; she’s the county manager, so why did she order a truck for herself to drive and why is she not driving the one that she allegedly owns, which was purchased also with county taxpayer funds?

What do you think? What do you see?
