Saying Goodbye to Marion County Manager, Connie Harris

Julia Pierce | July 5, 2026

On April 1, 2026, Richard Harris from The Journal posted that Marion County Manager Connie Harris announced her resignation, writing of many alleged successes that I have since debunked in the publication from May 2, 2026, where I provided evidence that Connie Harris took credit for maintaining LMIG grants. He indicated that July 3, 2026 would be her last day.

Since I began this journey to answering the question that many Marion County citizens have had – “Why are our roads not getting repaired,” I have found that there are many reasons that may contribute to that, and I would like to summarize those below as a “goodbye” to Mrs. Harris.

What has Mrs. Harris done for Marion County during her “management?”

  • Connie Harris had neglected three years of financial records that caused Marion County to lost her ability to apply for and receive grants
  • Connie Harris had refused to digitize records for at least three years (if not more) that by not being digitized could have been lost to fire.
  • Connie Harris employed three clerks who were getting paid to do work for the county, yet the county website and document digitization have been severely neglected.
  • Connie Harris was not accurately reporting the financial standing of Marion County to the Board of Commissioners
  • Connie Harris lied about our county having LMIG grants for 3 years, while allowing the commissioners to approve work from the LMIG grant.
  • Connie Harris approved the transfer of $449,000 from the last LMIG grant Marion County received in 2022, for which has yet to be accounted.
  • Connie Harris did not budget any money for three years to the improvement of Marion’s roads.
  • Connie Harris had a large part to play in the appointment and pay of Tiffany Harris – her daughter-in-law by marriage – becoming Marion’s election supervisor
  • Connie Harris has proven she had no insight as to what was happening in the road department with the allegations of road employees clocking each other in and out
  • Connie Harris has approved the overpayment and underpayment of our road employees.
  • Connie Harris has lied to the people of Marion County, compromised her finances, compromised her commissioners, compromised her clerks, compromised her employees, and compromised the integrity of the county.
  • Connie Harris has proven that she cared more about her own gain and the gain of her friends and family than bettering the citizens and the economy of Marion County.
  • In Sum, Connie came in and destroyed much of Marion County in just three years.

Though Richard Harris wrote an article highlighting false successes and thanking her for her work in Marion County, I do not share his view. I am grateful that Mrs. Harris did the right thing and resigned as county manager.

So, Goodbye Mrs. Harris and may I say more appropriately, “Good riddance.” It is my fervent desire that no one can take your place unless they truly care about the people, the economy, and the good future of Marion County. Marion County needs a strong county manager with backbone and commitment to transparency and honesty.
